Why I Do This Work
I have always loved meaningful conversation. For as long as I can remember, I have been the person people turn to when they need someone to talk to. I have often been the one at a party who learns a person’s entire childhood after ten minutes of conversation. And I love it.
Therapy is a second career for me, but my interest in the work goes back much further. I studied mathematics and psychology in college, reflecting two sides of me that have always coexisted: an analytical mind and a genuine curiosity about people. I began my career in business consulting in New York City before moving into corporate human resources, where I found the greatest satisfaction in helping people navigate challenges, recognize their strengths, and find opportunities to thrive. That experience led me to explore the possibility of becoming a psychotherapist.
When I decided to make the transition to therapy, so much of what had always felt natural suddenly made sense. One memory that stayed with me was watching a couple in the middle of an argument. I remember thinking, I know what each of them is trying to say, but they aren't actually saying it, and they keep missing each other. Each was trying to communicate something important, yet neither was able to hear the other. I felt almost compelled to step in and help them see what was happening.
That moment captured what I have come to value deeply in my work: helping people better understand themselves, their relationships, and their patterns. The shift that happens when a client gains clarity about what they are feeling, what they need, and how to communicate it: that’s the good stuff.
My clinical experience includes working with young adults, adults, and couples across a wide range of relationship and life challenges. My work is informed by evidence-based practices and is tailored to the person or couple in front of me.
Above all, the relationship between therapist and client is fundamental. You need to feel comfortable enough to be honest, vulnerable, and sometimes uncomfortable. Creating a space where you feel genuinely seen and heard is central to how I work.
